Bright Sun adopts the Nigerian National Curriculum and places much emphasis on the National Educational Policy. The school also prepares students for IGCSE, SAT I, SAT Subject Test, (Scholastic Aptitude Test), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELPT (International English Language Proficiency Test), and ACT (American College Test). These ensure that our students are suitable for higher education in the country and outside of Nigeria.
Homework is emphasized for all subject teachers. Students’ performance in homework shows the level of their retention of the lesson taught. It is one thing to be taught in class and understand the topic taught (classwork is used to check that). It is another to retain the topic already learnt in class after some time (Assignments are used to check this).
At the very least, a teacher ought to give four before and another four after the mid-term exam. At the very least, the scores from four of these must be uploaded on the students’ portal of the School online parents’ platform.
The school libraries are stocked with all necessary books and reference materials. Round –the-clock internet facility is also available for students to avail themselves of resource on electronic media. This is done with the supervision by teachers (during school periods) and by hostel supervisors (after school periods).
Absolutely remarkable, we have been continuously having superlative general students’ performance in all external examinations written by our students either in our school or outside of the school. I must add that the least we have ever had was about 95% exceptionally remarkable results. Successive sets since then have always averaged 100% success. The standard set by a class is always improved upon by the class after them. The result seen as superlative this year is usually always dwarfed by the success of the next class the following year. This has been the reason our school is one of the top twenty schools in Lagos.

The average class in the school is about fifteen. One or two classes could be thirteen or sixteen though, the average is fifteen usually the science class could have two or three students more than their arts counterpart.
Bright Sun College is a mixed school in every sense of the word. There are male and female children. At the same time, day students ware in the same class with boarding students
As hinted earlier moral lesson and counselling sessions are regular conducted wherein students get to know their duties, obligations, rights and privileges that may be granted. Once a student knows all these, it then follows that he would keep himself within the confines of the rules. Should he be in doubt on any issue or feels his right has been violated or his right denied, he knows where to seek redress. But if a student decides to go contrary to the laid down rules and procedures, then he would be reported to the Disciplinary Committee.
Discipline or punishing an erring student has its own procedure. Erring students are made to write their statement in defence of their action. The Disciplinary Committee at its seating listen to students explaining their own side of the story, perhaps there are attenuating or mitigating circumstances. This to determine the culpability or innocence of any student brought before it. Once the guilt is established, an incident report is filled and the content is further uploaded on the student-parent portal.
Just as in discipline, same applies to safety. The school has a comprehensive safety policy which places emphasis more on prevention. Our Safety policy is as contained in our security and safety codes.
As a component of the Cultural and Creative Art, visual art is taught in the school curriculum. Beside what they learn in class, and their Art Studio, students are always able to gather hands-on experience at the Club Activities. The Music Club also help students to acquire skills in the usage of different musical instruments. The school Drama club presents plays from time to time
Various programmes exist 1. The International Science Olympiad (junior and senior), info matrix, International Junior and Senior Science exhibitors Competitions. Students who are exceptionally gifted in mathematics or sports are often considered for scholarships as well.
The school is not religious-based but quite morally inclined. It accepts students of both faiths and each is allowed to freely practice his religion without any hindrance or disturbance to others. In fact, all schools Programmes are planned in such a way as not to impinge on any student’s religious affiliation. Muslims observe their regular Solat, and Christians observe their morning devotion and fellowship, the same with the celebration of Mass by Catholic students every Sunday.
